One of the best Photoshop tutorials I've seen- your explanation of how active pixels vs transparency define what shines through helped me finally understand clipping masks!
Also, in my opinion Shift + Ctrl + G to *ungroup* a clipping mask when the underlined bottom layer is selected is the easiest way remove them! That way you can make and remove them without having to find the right line to click on in the layers palette.

I had no idea what this process called, so I was worried my rough guess on google wouldn't bring up any results. Luckily, this video showed me how to get exactly the effect I wanted quickly and easily. Plus the narrator's voice was quite sexy, so that made it even more fun to watch! ^_~
