Cool. Not good for the drive. The mechanism is literally being shaken apart. It must be doing a month's work in like 10 seconds! I guess the drive inside is a standard TEAC or something like that, so its pretty straightforward to realign with a known good disc or a "proper" alignment disc (like hen's teeth) Most computers could do this by using the step and direction controls, with a computer with a large memory (e.g PC) you could get speech samples, notably HAL, to emit from your poor floppy ;)

Haha.. I remember running this for the first time when I downloaded it from a BBS. I only ran it once because somebody told me it would damage the drive. I never found out if that was true or not.

These things are computers in their own right, so they could be programmed to do quite a lot of things.
