Most excellent and thoroughly helpful. You've given me a lot of confirmation on things that I have already been doing and now you have given me direction regarding some new techniques. Thank you for helping to simplify a sometimes daunting task.
Saved you to my favorites

I think the biggest mistake I made when writing my novel was to attempt it without an outline. While it is nice to be able to just begin writing, it tends to be unfocused and rambling without better planning.

Try using Word's Master Document feature to organise the novel. It really helps, provided you keep all the bits in the same folder.

the toughest thing is not to get lazy or rush through parts, and to stay organized . . . FUCK, it's ALL hard!

Try this: boy meets girl, they fall in love. Something drives boy and girl apart. They resolve the issue and realise they love each other after all. THE END! Fill in the details.

I agree wit you entirely. I have to say that when James Joyce began writing Ulysses, Virgil the Aenid, Tolstoy War and Peace, or whatever their way of writing was far more complicated than step 1, 2, 3 etc. However, I can't help but feel some writers do write like this and enjoy great success through it. Jackie Collins, for instance, quite evidently is not in the same leage as Joyce or Tolstoy but she's made huge wadges of cash. Get rich without critical respect. Groovy. |
