Not sure it's mentioned already, but "La Vida Viva" does sound similar to Creaky Boards' "The Songs I Didn't Write." Search for it and compare.

well...may it be a coincidence? doesn't really matter how things go,but usualy music isn't about competition, not when we're talking about coldplay or joe.I guess we can enjoy both songs as well.and after all...if it was to be a copy..satch is a damn good option to copy from.enjoy and inspiration (excuse my english)

I think you're right, I'm not bashing Satch fans just because I don't peticuliarly find his music emotional and catchy. It's just a taste thing, for guitar players I'm more of a blues guy, and I enjoy good songwriting like coldplay presents as well. I'm not saying his music doesn't strike emotion in anyone, I'm just saying people shouldn't bash coldplay in comparison to him, because it's obvious by their record sales that they strike emotion in much more people than he does.

Just knowing that you use the phrase "legally retarded" enables me to guess that you are between the ages of 13 and 17.
Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I'm not bashing Satriani, but to say that Coldplay sucks is rediculous. If you think that Satriani's songs are melodic and catchy (which they might be) you can't put down Coldplay. Satch's songs don't strike emotion in people like Coldplay does, because he only sells to musicians, while they are the best selling band of our time.

"his songs are more of tools to show off his guitar playing."
That doesn't piss me off cuz that conveys a clear message that you are legally retarded.
Flying in a blue Dream, Andalusia, Starry Night, and Always with me, always with you are just some of the songs that have more feeling and thought than most bands's entire catalogue.
Catchy lead lines? Look no further than a slick cut off his new record called Asik Vaysel.

Well I'd have to disagree with you. Yes, I am a Satch fan, his music motivates me to be a better guitarist, much like Coldplay motivates me to be a better lyricist. His melodies aren't cheesy, he puts a lot of thought into some of his songs, and the meanings behind them. Now, granted, he does have some goof off let's just sound cool type songs to show his talent, but why is that a bad thing?
I dunno, myself, I like a lot of music and I try to get the best out of an artist.

Johnny Buckland isn't that kind of guitarist. He's more about creating atmospheric blends and catchy lead lines. He probably couldn't really solo (not in the vein of Satriani anyway), but that doesn't discredit his talent. He probably considers those little interludes he has guitar solos.
And I don't think you can say they're missing out, despite whatever talent he may possess, they still have outsold him by millions of records. And don't say anyone can achieve popularity, not like they have

You're a mental case man. I dislike Satriani, and I find you offensive as well. I'm just gonna go ahead and say something that will piss off every Satriani fan, and no matter how much you whine and cry you can't change my opinion. Satch's songs aren't catchy, his melodies are cheesy, and he obviously doesn't care about that fact because his songs are more of tools to show off his guitar playing. I hold a mild amount of respect for him only because he's modest. |
