the goal of yoga is the realization of self and the cessation of suffering. Most western yoga is simply for fitness...keep in mind the true goal even if you can only do one or two asanas perfectly it is the state of Being that truly counts! Peace

Couldn't agree more, the goal of yoga is not flexibility, it is a peaceful mind. The more one "tries", the more one thinks about what one is doing on an ego level and the less peaceful the mind. Also, longer-term flexibility is much better obtained by development at one's own realistic pace, the more you push, the slower you'll progress (long-term). In addition to David Swenson, who is my favourite teacher, David Williams is great, he has it all wrapped up for me in his attitude and outlook.

dear friend, with all respect for your motivation. If you want to reach this 'level' than stop reaching cause that's the all wrong approache of yoga. Dont think in the western way of levels and effort (must reach...).. just do your yoga and the rest will follow..in the and the journey is what counts not the goals.. Namasté

inspiring, he is the absolute don of ashtanga yoga. anyone ever get the chance to go to one of his classes, it's well worth it. peace.
