Much thanks. Yeah man, that one note Jimi gets to that has screaming wail of sustain, rocks me everytime, of course hendrix's war-sounds montage, and how they all vibe off each other, and even Buddy Miles quiet refrain.. "tt-tt-tt-tt..." machine guns fading out. Amazing. :)

its about harvesting barley my friend. the story is symbolic of of how we overuse the grain and show no remorse of the overconsumption of "ol john". but were humans and we have to eat and get drunk right? i like to eat and get drunk!

What a beautiful song with a sad story!

Since i speake french, Barley is for me "orge" a kind of "céréale" and corn another one kind of crop originally from Mexico. And these mens coming for the killing of that guy John...? What's the matter! i want to know...?(what this all about)

I think it is a song about Harvest, John Barleycorn being the personnification of the wheat collected in September...

some think its about the christians attacking pagan beliefs, some think its a christian based song, about jesus, he dies so others can live.

What a beautiful, well crafted piece of music. Haunting. I love it. |
