Exciting Community: Brampton Ontario Feb 27, 2007 - Travel News >> Brampton Ontario: A Fast Growing Community - bt Rob Parker Choosing the right community in which to settle and raise your family is a daunting task. There are just so many different things to consider. Employment opportunities, the quality of the educational system, transportation… All of these things need to be considered before investing in a community through a real estate purchase. You might also want to consider how an investment in real estate is likely to fare over the course of time. Is it likely that your home will appreciate, depreciate, or retain its value over the short and long term? A community that many people have been investing in is that of Brampton, Ontario. This community has seen an amazing 20 percent hike in population over the course of a year and this trend doesn’t show any sign of stopping soon. The population hike is primarily attributed to a surge in immigration of South Asians. Immigration has contributed to the diverse population of Brampton. In fact, more than 40 percent of residents belong to a visible minority group. This increase in population has led to an increase in the housing market of Brampton as well... There are literally dozens upon dozens of loft developments under construction in Toronto, and competition is tough. For many people interested in purchasing living space in a new loft development, the search begins early and it is grueling. One thing that makes finding a loft so difficult is that 50 percent of loft developments are sold before the building is listed on the public market. This means that people wishing to buy a loft must do a lot of research and try to secure a loft before construction is completed. If they are successful, there are many rewards. Many lofts in the Toronto area increase in value anywhere from $10,000 to $20,000 on the day that they are placed for sale on the public housing market. Lofts are distinct from condos in that they feature exposed ductwork, exposed beams and columns, few interior walls, and high ceilings. They are very open spaces, commonly two stories high and have a lot of original features that set them apart from other homes on the market. There are two types of loft developments: hard and soft. Hard loft developments are created by converting an old commercial building such as a warehouse or factory. Once obtaining such a building... Not Too Early to Think About Spring Golf Vacation Feb 11, 2007 - Linknet Travel >>> Now that we're into the last half of winter it's not too early to start planning your next golf vacation in Ontario. And the most popular destination for vacation golf in Ontario is in the Muskoka region, just about two hours north of Toronto. In the last ten years a number of highly rated championship and resort courses have been opened in this area, taking full advantage of the unique landscape. One group of courses worth trying is the Clublink threesome: Lake Joseph, Rocky Crest and Grandview. All three are unique, challenging, and memorable. Just outside of Port Carling on beautiful Lake Joseph, the Lake Joseph Club was one of the first courses in the area to cater specifically to cottagers and resort visitors. It was soon followed by Rocky Crest a few miles away near MacTier and Grandview about an hour's drive away in Huntsville. Grandview was designed by PGA tour pro Mark O'Meara. Huntsville is also the site of the famous Deerhurst Lodge where Shania Twain got her start in show business. But Deerhurst is even more famous for its outstanding resort and golf courses. Deerhurst Highlands and Deerhurst Lakeside are both 18 hole courses carved out of an 800 acre wilderness. Deerhurst anchors what is known as the "Muskoka Golf Trail" which features two other outstanding courses -- The Rock and The Ridge at Manitou. The Rock was designed by Nick Faldo on the western shores of Lake Rosseau and opened in 2004. The Ridge at Manitou is a Thomas McBroom course and was named "Best New Course in Ontario" by two golf magazines. Two other outstanding courses are Taboo in Gravenhurst and Bigwin Island at Lake of Bays. Taboo was chosen by The Toronto Star as Ontario's #1 Golf Course and it has the endorsement of 2003 Master's winner Mike Weir. And Bigwin Island is built near the site of the historic Bigwin Inn, once billed as North America's largest and most luxurious summer resort. These courses, and many more, have made the Muskoka region of Ontario a "must visit" for the golfer looking for challenging, beautiful, and superbly designed and maintained golf courses. Do Canadians Need Travel Insurance When Travelling in Canada? Why Bother With Travel Insurance If You're A Canadian Travelling Within Canada? - by Kade Phillips Whatever your politics, whatever your religion, and whether you’re wealthy or not so well off, we Canadians are indeed a blessed people when compared with most of the rest of the world. Anyone who doesn’t recognize this obviously hasn’t done much travelling outside of Canada, or simply has a very particular grievance of some sort against some aspect of Canada. For the most part, Canada works, and from sea to shining sea, from our southern border to the icy north, we are collectively better off than most of the rest of the worlds population. You know this to be true if you’ve been outside of our borders for any length of time. Physically, our great land is so varied, and so vast, that in fact it would be possible to spend every vacation right here in Canada, never leaving the country, and barely even scratch the surface of what there is to see and do, and still have a great vacation every time. One of the things we can be most proud of is our health care system. Yes, it’s not perfect, but how many things are? And, fortunately, as a Canadian travelling within our own borders, our various Provincial and Territorial health care plans cover us for the most part, in the event of accident or tragedy that injures our health while travelling outside of the province or territory of our residence, but still within Canada... Our Vietnam Bicycle Tour - started out from Hanoi Capital and terminated way down in Hochiminh City in the southern part of Vietnam. During our trip we saw tremendous sites at Halong Bay, HoaBinh, Hoi An, Hue, and finally Hochiminh City. Whenever possible we stayed off the main highways - our route hardly touched the busy main highway. Our friendly group of cyclers just traveled quiet or little used roads to discover the real Vietnam. And get this - we took excursions by boat in Halong, Hue and on Mekong river as well as interesting rides to Cu Chi Tunnels. Then we biked through the impressive limestone karst countryside of HoaBinh and Halong bay. When we reached Hochiminh City in the south, we even had time to ride to Mekong delta and stay overnight in local Vietnamese homes. What a great experience! Our entire bike tour of Vietnam took 14 days and it's one bike tour I'll never forget.
