ClickBank is one of the largest sources of digital products, and some 10,000 merchants use ClickBank to sell their products.

ClickBank is great for merchants. It provides an affiliate scheme and processes credit cards on behalf of the merchants.

Affiliate marketers, too, like ClickBank a lot. With a free ClickBank account you can immediately start promoting any products sold through ClickBank, using a special ClickBank “hoplink” for each product. With most merchants rewarding you with at least 50% commission per sale, you’ll soon start making serious big bucks.

There’s nothing to it, is there? Sorry, but yes there is! Unless you’re going to follow the example of most people trying to sell ClickBank products and making little or nothing for their efforts, you’ll need to avoid the common mistakes that they make.

It’s not enough to use such methods as banner ads or links in your forum postings and emails. That’s not enough to persuade people to purchase through your link.

I want to show you a technique which has worked extremely well for me. It needs a little effort, but the rewards more than compensate for the work involved.

Building Product Review Pages

What you need to do is to spend a little time writing a review of any product you want to promote, and put this product review page on your website. You’re aiming to convince people, not just to click through to the merchant’s sales page using your affiliate link. You want them to arrive on the sales page all ready to buy. You are “pre-selling” them.

An increasing number of people, before they buy something, do a little research to find reviews of that product. They’ll type something like “review + product name” into Google. You can see for yourself how many reviews there are for a product by doing just that.

Even this technique on its own is not enough. Many, many affiliate marketers write very poor review pages. You need to be a little subtle!

How To Improve Your Review Pages:

1) If you simply write about the good things in a product, you will be unconvincing. It’s not hard to find a few minor faults in a product. And, of course, you make sure that the good points heavily outweigh the bad points!

2) Your purpose isn’t to sell the product. That’s the job of the merchant’s sales page. Remember, you are aiming to send people to the sales page through your link, almost convinced that they want the product.

3) You mustn’t use words and sentences taken straight from the merchant’s sales page. Your review will lose all its impact if you do this. It will no longer be seen as impartial.

4) Write as if you have used the product. And if you haven’t used it, you really shouldn’t be writing a review! Many merchants will send you a free copy of a digital product if you say that you are writing a review.

5) If possible, find other similar products and compare them with the product you really want to sell. You could even give a star rating to each one - making sure, of course, that your main product gets the most stars!

You’ll have to be the judge however, think of how many books, courses, even seminars $1,495.00 will purchase. A good quality journal is only about $12.95, so where is the value?

The compensation plan is an over-hyped. The business model is based on the Australian 2 up. Simply put you’re told that all you have to do is pass up your first two ‘training sales” to your adviser and then something wonderful is going to happen. Everyone you sponsor is going to pass up their first two sales to you and those two people will pass up their first two sales, and those two will pass up their first two sales. Don’t believe it, instead Google ‘Australian 2 up” and please read the information for yourself.

Also it might be prudent to picture yourself in your adviser’s shoes. What I mean is that after you have passed up two sales to your adviser, what interest do they have in helping you. Do you think you and your adviser might be in competition for the same business now? How many new ‘Secrets” that your adviser learns do you think they will want to share with you?

You will be encouraged to purchase both a Liberty Conference (3 day) and a Summit Conference (5 day) ticket. The Liberty ticket retails for $7,995 and your adviser, if they are “qualified” will earn a profit of $5,000 for the sale. The Summit ticket retails for $12,995 with your adviser earning a profit of $8,000. You are told that the reason you should do this is to capitalize your business properly. You are also told that you must take this step in order to be able to qualify to earn future profits on purchases of these tickets by your associates.

The process can be somewhat confusing. First you hear that you can start this home based business opportunity for only $1,495.00 and the next thing you know you learn that in order to earn like the champions you’ll have to capitalize your business with another $20,990.00. The business model is also somewhat complex because your adviser must have four people on their register after you purchase either the Liberty or Summit Conference tickets in order for you to “qualify for profit” If they are not actively marketing, which many are not, you’ll have to pass up these sales in order to qualify yourself. This means that you’ll also be passing up as much as $65,000.00 in total “profits” to your adviser. How does that sit with you?

Before making your final decision you’ll want to do some due diligence. A good place to start is online with Google. If you check out Liberty League you’ll find some pretty unhappy folks out there, more than with most programs. Also check out Australian pass up programs. Many experts are now finding the same flaws which have been discussed here.

A great no cost method to start with is free online classified ads. You can Google online classified ads and find over two dozen sites. You’ll want to follow each site’s guidelines in order to stay in good standing, no reason to get booted off a free site.

Personal contact marketing costs very little and can be very rewarding. As you go through your day simply listen to what others are saying. When you hear someone complaining about their hours at work or the long commute give them a business card and tell them that you might have something for them. Newspapers offer a low cost method of advertising when you consider the number of people you will reach. Choose a demographic which you feel comfortable with. You’ll want to keep the circulation below 200,000 for the best value price-wise.

Magazines can also be highly effective although the cost might be out of reach when you’re just starting up. Magazines also have a time lag of 30 to 45 days between the time you place the order and publication. The great thing about magazines is their shelf life, you might get a call months after your ad runs.

Press releases let you use the media to draw attention to your business, which makes it more credible in the eyes of the public. Consider five easy tips on how to make your press release great.

Proper Format: All of your press releases should be written in the proper format. Your goal should be to give you and your business a professional air. You will need to review your press release, checking spelling, grammar, and punctuation before sending it to any media source.

Writing Clearly and Pointedly: Since most media outlets receive a steady stream of press releases, they do not have time to read long ones. No press release should be more than two pages in length. In order to keep your press release at this size, your writing needs to be clear and pointed, answering the most important questions: who, what, where, when, why, and how.

What Is The Reader Going To Gain: Give your press releases a call to action. Include something that is going to inspire readers to go to your event, visit your website, attend your grand opening, etc. Writing a blatant ad will be obvious. Incorporate the features and benefits of what you are promoting, and give information on what it will do for your target market.

For example, a press release about a new food processor needs to tell readers more than the simple facts that the new product is more compact than older models. Make customers see the benefits they will derive from purchasing it by wording it differently. You could say, “The compact size of our new food processor will let customers maximize counter space while chopping up foods with just as much power as previous models.” This tells your reader why they need to buy your product.

Make It Interesting: If your writing is boring, no one is going to want to read it. Try to find a balance between straight facts and excitement. Using the example of the food processor above, announcing that ‘our new food processor will be available this spring’ isn’t as catchy as ‘our new space-saving food processor will be available this spring, just in time to help you chop fresh vegetables for your summer salads’.

Remember Your Target Market: As you write and submit your press releases, keep your target market in mind at all times. By keeping your audience in mind, you will be able to focus on what information to include and where to submit your press releases.

For instance, if you are promoting an event related to children’s health, submitting a press release to the travel editor of your local paper isn’t going to help you.

A new idea in advertising has burst onto the scene of Internet marketing with the appearance of Pay Per Click advertising. The search engines have finally managed to find a way to make a profit with online marketing. Let me explain how this can be done.

Now let us think about the old way of advertising. You would pay money down to a company who would place your ad. The company showing your ad would be paid according to the length of time you wanted to run it. The exposure you get is nothing to do with what you pay the company.

This could be in several medias; radio, TV, newspaper or online on a web page. The price would be for running the ad for a limited time, and would make it available for all to see. When the search engines saw the potential of this idea they decided to develop it. To get better placements, advertisers were invited to bid higher. The advertiser with the highest bid won the best placement, this gave their ads better exposure. Both search engines and advertisers increased their profits.

Of course many people will still associate Google and Google Adwords with pay per click advertising and tend to ignore the other engines out there. However there are other significant engines. The biggest names are Yahoo Search, Microsoft Adcenter, and Search Feed, to name just a few pay per click engines. To make more money marketers should try some of these other engines as well as Google and Google Adwords.

It is wise to use as many different tactics for gaining traffic as you can. Using different pay per click engines will help you to expand your business and increase your profits.
